
Professor Blum is the Faculty Adviser for the Steel Bridge Team at UW-Madison, and has advised the team since the 2018-2019 competition year.
Hannah is an experienced Assistant Professor with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. Skilled in Experimental Testing, Steel Structures, Finite Element Analysis, Structural Engineering, and Materials.
Professor Blum earned her Bachelors and Masters from John Hopkins University in 2010 and 2012 respectively. She went on to earn her PhD focused in Structural Engineering from the University of Sydney in 2017. Her current research interests are steel structures, cold-formed steel structures, structural stability, and structural reliability.
Professor Blum is part of three societies: American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Structural Stability Research Council (SSRC), and American Insitute of Steel Construction (AISC). She also has received multiple professional awards including the Vinnoakota Award from the Structural Stability Research Council and Wei-Wen Yu Student Scholar Award from the Wei-Wen Yu Center for Cold-Formed Steel Structures.
